 DUGMORE, Charles Cousins Age 28 , died 24 January 1916

Private - 1st South African Infantry Brigade ; Served with Hartigan’s Horse in GSWA 1914 1914 - 1915 ; served with 2nd Regiment in Egypt WIA at Mersa Matruh 23 January 1916, died of wounds the following day

Buried at Chatby Military 7 War Memorial Cemetery, Alexandria, Egypt

(His brother Edward also died in WWI)

 DOLD, Eric Gilbert (Kingswood College, Grahamstown, E.C.) Age 19, died 30 March 1918

1st South African Infantry Brigade ; Served with the 2nd Regiment in France ; WIA at Marries Wood 4 March 1918 ; POW died of wounds in German War Hospital, Le Cateau 6 days later

Buried at Le Cateau Cemetery, Nord, France

 DUGMORE, Edward Donald Age 27, died 10 April 1918

Lance Corporal - 1st South African Infantry Brigade ; Served with the 1st Regiment in France & Belgium ;  KIA at Messiness Ridge, Flanders, Belgium ; body never found.

Honoured at Menin Gate to the Missing, Ieper , Flanders, Belgium

(His brother Charles also died in WWI.)

Private-1st South African Infantry Brigade ; Served with the 2nd Regiment in France ; KIA at Delville Wood, Somme, France

Buried at Delville Wood Cemetery, Longueval, Somme France  

OPENSHAW, Hubert Douglas Age 20, died 16 July 1916

Private - 1st South African Infantry Brigade ; Served with the 2nd Regiment in Egypt and France ; KIA at Delville Wood , Somme France ; body never found.

Honoured at the Thiepval Memorial to the Missing, Somme,France

 PURDON, Norman Cameron Age 25, died 12 April 1917

Private - 1st South African Infantry Brigade ; Served with the 1st Regiment in France ; KIA in the unsuccessful attack on German defensive lines at Fampoux, near Arras; Body never found

Honoured at Arras Memorial to the Missing, Fauborg d’Amiens Cemetery, Pas de Calais, France

   PURDON, Allan Eric (Purdon, AF on memorial) (Kingswood College, Grahamstown, E.C.) Age 18 , died 20 September 1917

1st South African Infantry Brigade; Served with the Depot Training Battalion for 4 months; Served with the 4th Regiment in France and Belgium ; KIA at Third Battle of Ieper ( Battle of Menin Road)

Private - South African Infantry; Served with the 5th Regiment in East Africa; WIA at Likuju 17 November 1917, died of wounds 9 days later

DAVIES, Granville (Graeme & Kingswood Colleges, Grahamstown, E,C,) Age 27, died 17 April 1916

Driver - South African Service Corps; Served with the Motor Transport Unit in East Africa; died of pneumonia at Roberts Heights, Pretoria.

Buried at Rokeby Park 7th Day Adventist Cemetery, Bathurst

DAVIES, Ronald James (Graeme College, Grahamstown, E.C)

Cause of Death unknown. Supposition is that he died of malaria after discharge

Driver- South African Service Corps, Served with the Motor Transport Unit in East Africa, died of enteric fever

Private - South African Infantry ; Served with 8th Regiment in East Africa; repatriated to Durban 22 February 1917 (possibly malaria); Departed from Durban 13 June 1917; Died of pneumonia 1 July 1917

Buried at Dar Es Salaam War Cemetery, Tanzania
